Daily Journal - February
Feb 1st: Awoke in a particularly bedraggled hotel room with three strangers: one female, two male, all light complected. Bellamy and his companion seemed distrustful of others, but were not adverse to working together. The elvish man, on the other hand, seemed unbalanced. Whether this was an affectation or not, I cannot say. He seemed rather intent on separating me from the other two. I found this suspect.
Upon leaving the room, I found an empty building nearby in which to rest. It seems I am stranded here, along with those other three, and a few other stragglers I noticed on the way here. My revolver is missing, but if it is like the other items I had on my person, it should be nearby somewhere. I shall make it a priority to search for it, as it would seem invaluable here.
Feb 2nd: Search for Raging Bull continues apace. I have located the local supermarket, although it is quite a ways away from my current residence. I have been told that while the houses in this section of town - Southtown - have electricity, the ones further north of Foodland do not. I see no pressing need to move further north for the time being.
Located a bar nearby to my residence. It was mostly empty, although the piranha were a charming decor item. May be a good source of information in future. Will have to revisit when there are customers present.
Feb 3rd: Raging Bull has been recovered from the building we had been brought to upon arrival. Ammo is sparse, however; I only seem to have the six bullets in the chamber. Let us hope I won't need to use them anytime soon.
I have managed to secure a laptop and cell phone from Foodland. Although they cannot dial or connect outside of the immediate area here, the local network has provided interesting reading through their recent archives. Of interest, there seem to be no entries from the past month. Prior to that, there is video of something that looks like Ameno Sagiri. I will have to make my presence known over this network; if that video was indeed of Ameno Sagiri, then it is entirely possible that one or more of my classmates has arrived with me.
To my knowledge, however, only the four of us from room 4444 and a group in a neighboring room arrived two days ago. I will have to find out more about the other group, as well.
Feb 4th: Although it seems quiet here, there are several places of interest along this shoreline. A couple ruined houses from the tidal wave that subsumed the place after Sagiri's visit. Scavenging seems to be the main source of income here, although there are resident run businesses.
- a bar
- a trading post
- a medic
- a museum
- a zoo
And several abandoned restaurants and amusement establishments. A trip the museum is in order.
[A whole page is dedicated to drawing the boardwalk and mapping the buildings therein]
Feb 5th: The other captives pass messages to each other over the "network", which is really just a primitive blogging service or forum. Since they are public, sometimes they even decode them. Perhaps they could not reach each other over the phone?
Further investigation of the archives reveals that there are people from home here, or at least there have been. An anonymous post the day I arrived informs of Adachi-san's presence, although if he is still present, he seems unaware of my presence. But that also means there is one more person from Inaba here. Given the writing style, I would guess Yosuke-senpai. But if he is posting anonymously, he has likely gone to ground and does not wish to be found at this time. If I cannot look for him surreptitiously, it is best to let him be. Or else I shall have to stick my neck out again and make my presence known. Without access to our Personas, there is only so much Adachi-san can do here.
Feb 6th: Disturbing news mounts. The Technicians, as our antagonists have come to be called, have done something to each of our bodies upon entry into this place, which causes their rate of "decomposition" to slow down. Whether this means that our bodies are currently dead, or that if we die we simply do not decompose as quickly, I do not know. I likely do not have the pieces to put this puzzle together at the present time.
We also are now apparently sterile.
I don't know how to feel about this. My overwhelming reaction is sickness and a sense of violation, but have I really lost anything? Moreover, is this some sort of sick fulfillment of my wish to have been born male? I shouldn't take it personally, but...
I have met one of the other new captives, although she seems to be getting along worse than I have. We shall see how this turns out.
Feb 7th: I am biting the bullet and posting to the forum. I believe I have little to fear from Adachi-san, and if there are others here from Inaba, this will be the easiest way to find them. It may also make connections out of range of my current situation - there is more to this place north of Foodland. Perhaps the people beyond Foodland have a different view of things.
Spoke again with the Elvish man, Yaha. He seems somewhat more balanced, now that we're out of that room. Something is still suspect, though. The "children" of which he's spoken are some kind of gnome or Earth elemental. While I have doubts about the origins of these creatures, perhaps they are some kind of Persona or Shadow? He says cryptic things at times, mostly about the people in his native land trying to murder him. He was some sort of elected official; I can assume he didn't have the best approval ratings.
Met many people through my network post, as well as procured Yosuke-senpai's number from his new roommate. I may not have been wrong about him going to ground. We will see when he contacts me.
Met a rather bedraggled looking girl out on the Boardwalk. Her attitude bespeaks some kind of privileged upbringing back home, but she looked quite the worse for wear. Offers of help were rebuffed, but I shall keep an eye out to see if she comes through looking like that again.
Feb 8th: Made contact with Yosuke-senpai. He seems shaken, although by what I cannot say. We have arranged to meet, so I shall find out then.
I have somehow made myself the subject of a challenge from an angry thief. The people here are lively, even in such an obviously adverse situation, to say the least. I do wonder what he will try to pull. I shall have to install a security system here, just in case, although there is not really much to lose as of right now.
Edit: Having met with Yosuke-senpai, much is becoming clear. He is particularly haggard, seeming undernourished and shell-shocked. Suspect some degree of PTSD. Will continue to work with him.
Feb 9th: Have been thinking quite a bit about the girl from the Boardwalk. It is against all logic, but I find myself worrying needlessly over her. Perhaps there was something particularly worrisome about her. I shall have to keep a sharp lookout for her.
Feb 10th: Located the local trade shop, TSO. There is a weapons cache there, although I will need to barter goods and services to access it. Money is redundant here; it serves no purpose when food and survival goods are much more useful.
Still have not seen the girl from the boardwalk again. How embarrassing that I'm even mentioning it.
Feb 11th: The posts to the network have gotten more mundane and random. One is advertising for a roleplay group. One is nearly gibberish that sounds like something from a fantasy novel. One is a man asking for tea. These things give me a better picture of how this place operates.
I find myself looking out my window now when I don't pay attention, looking for that girl again. This is a very peculiar affliction indeed. If the Technicians can play havoc with our physical bodies, why not our very minds as well?
